GKN Aerospace Engineering Services

GKN Aerospace Engineering Services (GKNAES) operates as an integrated engineering organisation within the GKNAS group of companies and as such provides a comprehensive range of engineering services to support both internal and external customer requirements within the aerospace, defence and marine industries. External customers supported include AgustaWestland, Airbus, BAE SYSTEMS, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Rolls Royce, Sikorsky, Smiths Industries and Thales.

The scope of services provided extend from initial concept design, through manufacture to in-service support, and cover a range of customer requirements, from the design of small mechanical components to large complex structural components. The latter typically include aircraft wing and fuselage sections in either metallic or advanced composite materials. GKN is an industrial leader in advanced composite technology.

The engineering services provided by GKNAES have been developed and proven on key projects over many years, and are supported by continuous investments in the latest engineering tools and relevant skills.  The Company currently operates from thirteen sites within the UK, USA and Australia, and is thus able to offer extended hours of working where demanding programme schedules are envisaged.  Some 700 experienced engineers are currently employed within the GKNAES organisation.

GKNAES was first established as a separate trading company in 1987 and was initially formed from a number of aerospace design, systems and manufacturing divisional elements of Westland Helicopters. Over recent years the company has substantially increased its product range and size through organic growth and the targeted acquisition of companies compatible with core business and strategic requirements
