The Engineering Development Centre in Nashville, Tennessee (EDC-TN) is committed to the design, development and production support of integrated airframe structures produced from advanced composite and metallic materials.
The centre is focused on the design and analysis of complex airframe assemblies from conceptual design through dataset release. EDC-TN is able to offer a cohesive team of experienced engineers that will act as an extension of the customer's own engineering staff.
By having a multi-disciplinary team, the site is able to fully manage and coordinate entire packages (wings, fuselage sections, flight control surfaces, empennage sections) for the customer. The engineers will work within the customer's processes and procedures to create engineering documentation that is at minimum the same standard as organically created engineering.
The centre is able to draw from the broad manufacturing technologies within GKN as well as those outside to offer creative solutions to engineering challenges that are optimised for the air vehicle and the customer. EDC-TN Tools include CATIA V4, CATIA V5, Unigraphics, Theorem, FiberSim, Nastran, Patran, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
