Operating Methodology

GKN Aerospace Engineering Services (GKNAES) operates from thirteen strategically located facilities in the UK, Europe, Australia and the USA.  The locations of these facilities are aligned with key customer sites or GKN manufacturing capabilities, as appropriate.  This approach supports GKNAES's operating methodology of focusing on key customers within the aerospace, defence and marine industrial sectors and offering a broad range of support services.  These services cover the complete product life cycle and can be provided on an integrated or stand-alone basis.  The services can also be tailored to meet the most demanding customer specific requirements.  Typical customer working arrangements include:

On-site Working

Supply of skilled engineers or multi-skilled engineering teams at the customer's site to work as an integral part of a project team.

Package Work

Undertake discreet packages of work at a nominated GKNAES facility.  Such work can be undertaken under direct control of the customer or on a project managed basis. If necessary on-site packaging assistance can be provided.

Integrated Solutions

Provide integrated engineering solutions involving multiple skill capabilities e.g. Design + Manufacturing Engineering (ME) + in-service support.

Design Build

By drawing upon the manufacturing capabilities of its parent company, GKN Aerospace Services, GKNAES can provide a complete design / build service.  Typical areas of expertise include metallic, advanced composite, mechanical, floatation and transparency components.

Strategic Relationship

The development of close working relationships that offer benefits to both the customer and GKNAES. Typical benefits may include GKNAES's investment in co-located facilities, relevant skills, customer specific engineering tools / training, IT links and risk sharing initiatives. GKNAES has a proven track record in this type of working and in making related investments.

In addition to a comprehensive in-house capability, GKNAES can also draw upon an established Quality approved second tier supplier base to provide peak and specialist engineering support.
