Stress Opportunities

GKN Aerospace designs and manufactures major structural assemblies for the worlds leading aerospace companies within both the civil and military sectors.  Opportunities currently exist at our Isle of Wight and Weston-super-Mare locations due to recently won contracts. We are seeking to recruit high calibre Stress Engineers to work on the analysis of structures comprising composite and metallic materials. Applicants should possess a recognised degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

The skills and experience required for these positions are:

Stress Engineers

Roles exist at all levels within the organisation, but candidates should have a minimum of 3 years proven experience in static stress analysis of both composite and metallic materials within the aerospace industry. Delegated signatory approval status from one of the major aircraft manufacturers would be advantageous. Knowledge/experience of the following would also be beneficial:

  • Finite element analysis using Nastran, and its associated output
  • Fatigue and fracture mechanics analysis
  • Means of certification compliance to JAR 25 Airworthiness Regulations
  • Structural testing
  • Production concessions
  • PC skilled with good working knowledge of MS Office applications

Fatigue & Fracture Mechanics Specialist

Roles exist at all levels within the organisation, but candidates should have a minimum of 3 years proven experience in F & DT analysis within the aerospace industry. Delegated signatory approval status from one of the major aircraft manufacturers would be advantageous. Applicants should be familiar with JAR 25.571 Airworthiness Regulations and appropriate means of compliance for the certification of damage tolerant primary aircraft structures.

Applicants should have a practical approach and be able to support all activities including conceptual design, testing, certification, support to manufacture, and in-service.  They should be proficient at computer based data manipulation and able to write simple code to automate repetitive tasks. Knowledge/experience of the following would also be beneficial:

  • Production concessions
